The next time you throw on Dazed and Confused, keep a sharp eye out for a young Renee Zellweger. While she had already been working in commercials and low-budget films in her home state of Texas, Richard Linklater’s cult classic is likely the first time she appeared on screen in something anyone actually paid money to see.
A few years later, both she and Matthew McConaughey would star in the forgettable Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, the third sequel to horror classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre. One wonders if McConaughey even recognized his co-star from the handful of times in Dazed where she wandered through frame.
