25 A-List Actors Who Got Their Start As Extras

Sylvester Stallone

Before he wrote and starred in Rocky in 1976, Sylvester Stallone was a struggling actor looking for his big break. Very early in his career, he booked work as an uncredited extra in a handful of films. This included The Sidelong Glances of a Pigeon Kicker where he appeared as a “party goer” and as “subway thug #1” in Woody Allen’s satire Bananas. Not the meatiest roles in the world, but we all have to start somewhere. Even the year before the release of Rocky, Sly was still in take-what-I-can-get mode, briefly appearing as “Youth in the Park” in The Prisoner of Second Avenue.
