Kylian Mbappe to Leave PSG

At the conclusion of this season, Kylian Mbappe will part ways with Paris Saint-Germain as his contract reaches its end.

While Mbappe has informed PSG of his decision, the details of his departure have yet to be completely settled. An official declaration is anticipated once the matter is resolved over the coming months.

According to reports from The Athletic, Mbappe had been inclined towards a move to Real Madrid once his PSG contract expires. However, key figures in his inner circle remain skeptical of the terms presented by the Spanish club, leading to a delay in the decision-making process.

Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that Mbappe has been aware of the conditions presented by Madrid since early January. With his PSG contract expiring after June 30, negotiations have been underway as he enters the final six months of his deal in France.

Although the 24-year-old signed a new two-year contract in the summer of 2021, which included a 12-month extension option for the 2024-25 season, only Mbappe held the authority to activate that extension, not PSG. Unfortunately, the deadline for exercising this option lapsed on July 31 of the previous year.

Throughout this season, Mbappe has appeared in 30 matches for PSG across various competitions, netting an impressive tally of 31 goals. The French superstar is recognized as one of the world’s greatest players. In two World Cup appearances, Mbappe has tallied 12 goals and has led France to consecutive trips to the Final — defeating Croatia in 2018 and losing to Argentina in Qatar.
