A top European wheelchair basketball tournament came to a terrifying halt in Zwickau, Germany on Saturday as 60 fans attacked each other with knives and baseball bats during a game between Turkish rivals Galatasaray and Beşiktaş.
Seven people were hospitalized as a result of the fan-based warfare, which took place during the tournament’s fifth-place match. This is not the first time fans of the two wheelchair basketball teams have brawled.
Back in 2012, police needed tear gas to disperse the wheelchair basketball crowd. I guess anything goes between wheelchair basketball fans, and they’re extremely passionate about their favorite sport.
RollingPlanet reports 50 of the hooligans tried escaping on a bus, but were quickly caught by the police and arrested.
