The Most Gruesome Injuries in the History of Sports

Tony Saunders — Baseball (Arm)

This one was tough to watch. Saunders was a pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays during the late-’90s. In a game versus the Texas Rangers, Saunders went into his routine delivery. Upon releasing the ball, Saunders graphically broke a bone in his elbow. During his recovery the following year, he broke yet another bone in the same arm when releasing a pitch. Sadly, Saunders was forced to retire at the age of 26.
