RANKED: The 25 Best MLS Players From #25 to #1

25. Kyle Beckerman – Real Salt Lake

Age: 34
Position: Midfielder

Although Beckerman is entering his 18th MLS season, the center midfielder is still one of the best passers in the league. His 82.4 pass percentage was near the top of the league in 2016 and his ability to win the ball back in midfield has been a big reason for Salt Lake’s success over the years. Beckerman averaged 2.3 tackles and 1.9 interceptions per game a season ago, and although he is not as active as he once was, he is still one of the best holding midfielders in MLS.

24. Dax McCarty – New York Red Bulls

Age: 29
Position: Midfielder

The fiery center midfielder is one of the most underrated players in the league. For the past few seasons, McCarty has been the heart and soul of the Red Bulls with his passing and defensive work in the middle of the field. A season ago, he averaged 2.6 interceptions and 2.4 tackles per game, as he protected the backline for New York. McCarty is also a terrific player in possession, averaging 63.8 passes and a completion percentage of 81.3. With Bruce Arena taking over as the national team manager, McCarty earned a call up to the national team in January.
