Way-Too-Early 2022 NFL Mock Draft

1. Detroit Lions: DL Kayvon Thibodeaux — Oregon

A former elite prospect out of high school, Thibodeaux established himself as the premier defensive player coming back to college this year. A native of Los Angeles, every single major school in the country was pining for his services before he decided to stay on the West Coast.

Thibodeaux has tabulated a whopping 18.0 sacks and 33.5 tackles-for-loss in only 27 career games. While not as freakishly athletic compared to Myles Garrett, there are some similarities. Thibodeaux, in fact, is likely better against the run at the same age. Though QB is an obvious area of need, the Lions would do well to snag the top prospect on the board here. Especially when you consider the Lions need to wait until 2023 to have an out on Jared Goff’s massive deal.
