The New England Patriots’ star tight end, Rob Gronkowski, has officially joined Instagram. The well-known partier has always enjoyed the spotlight, making it far from surprising to hear he has joined the social networking platform.
Gronkowski has maintained that he lives his lavish lifestyle solely off the money from endorsement deals and has yet to spend a single cent from his contract with the Patriots. Since Instagram has established itself as the leading social media platform in using celebrities as endorsers, Gronk’s decision to join makes perfect sense.
To announce his arrival, Gronkowski posted the most Gronk-like 60 second video, detailing his offseason since the Patriots’ disappointing AFC Championship Game loss:
And while New England has occasionally expressed concern for Gronk’s sometimes-reckless behavior, it has never gotten in the way of his production on the field.
The former Arizona Wildcat is coming off a season in which he hauled in 72 passes for 1,176 yards and 11 touchdowns in 15 games. He was also unstoppable in the postseason as Brady’s go-to target, posting 15 catches for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns in two games.
Gronkowski’s rare blend of size, speed and agility has made him the most unstoppable weapon in the league. Too big for cornerbacks/safeties and too fast for linebackers, the Patriots found a gem when they selected him with the 42nd pick in the 2010 Draft.
With New England widely considered the favorite to win Super Bowl 51, one can only imagine the videos Gronk would post on Instagram during the team’s celebration.
That’s as good of a reason as any to cheer for the Patriots this season.
