NFL Power Rankings: Week 12

30. New York Jets (2-8)

Week 11 Result: Lost to Miami 24-17

You can’t pin this loss completely on Joe Flacco. The Super Bowl XLVII MVP fared decently well in his first start of the year. Coming over from the Eagles a couple of weeks ago, Flacco was placed into an unfavorable situation with both Zach Wilson and Mike White on the mend. In response, the veteran threw a pair of touchdown passes and totaled 291 yards through the air. Of course, he didn’t play completely mistake-free football. He did cough up a costly fumble in Miami territory. Still, Flacco proved he can be a reliable backup for the time being. The Jets get the Texans next week. With a victory, New York will have already improved on their win total from last season.

29. Houston Texans (2-8)

Week 11 Result: Defeated Tennessee 22-13

Well, that was unexpected. The Titans entered Week 11 riding an incredible hot streak of wins over quality opponents. The Texans entered Week 11 without a victory since the first game of the season. Naturally, Houston took it to the AFC’s No. 1 seed in one of the more shocking outcomes of the season. Texans QB Tyrod Taylor played a solid game (two rushing touchdowns), but it was Houston’s defense that led the way. The Texans picked off Titans QB Ryan Tannehill four times and returned those interceptions for a total of 129 yards. It was a memorable victory — and one that Houston could use as momentum towards the end of the season.
