It’s hard to predict the future, but we feel pretty confident about a few of these predictions…When are the Cowboys taking home their next Super Bowl — will it be within the next 10 years?
Arizona Cardinals — 2077
Arizona has had a rough go in the NFC West. The franchise has two NFL Championships to its name (1925 and 1947) but has failed to win a Super Bowl. The Cardinals have only appeared in one Super Bowl, XLIII, and that appearance ended in heartbreaking fashion. Meanwhile, Arizona has looked on as both the rival Seahawks and Rams have won it all — and as the Niners have appeared in two Super Bowls in the past five years. Unfortunately, it is going to be a while before the Cards win their first Super Bowl. In 2077, it will be their time to shine.
Atlanta Falcons — 2057
Atlanta is another franchise that has failed to win a Super Bowl. Losing to John Elway and the Denver Broncos is nothing to be ashamed of, but fans will never let the team live down its epic collapse against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Unfortunately for the Falcons, the 28-3 curse will live on for decades to come. After a few more gut-wrenching losses on the grandest stage, Atlanta will come out on top in 2057.
Baltimore Ravens — 2029
While Baltimore hasn’t accomplished its main goal in recent seasons, the franchise has been one of the benchmarks in the league for two decades. The Ravens have finished below .500 only five times since 1999 and have won two Super Bowls during that time. With Lamar Jackson at quarterback and John Harbaugh in place as the head coach, the team is positioned to compete for years to come. After coming close the next few seasons, Baltimore will breakthrough once again in 2029 — led by Jackson in his third MVP season.
Buffalo Bills — 2037
Sorry, Buffalo. You will have to wait another decade and change for your team to finally lift the Lombardi Trophy. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have been a thorn in Buffalo’s side for years and will continue to haunt the franchise for years to come. However, as Josh Allen approaches his 40th birthday — and the end of his career — he will produce his John Elway moment and ride off into the sunset as a Super Bowl champion. 2037: The greatest thing that has ever happened to the city of Buffalo.
Carolina Panthers — 2066
Ahead of the 2024-25 season, it feels as if the sky is falling in Carolina. The Panthers have one winning season since 2016 and are coming off a 2-15 season. Making matters worse, the No. 1 overall pick that they would have had went to Chicago as a result of the Bryce Young trade. While Carolina plays in a mediocre NFC South, it is easily the worst team. We don’t envision that changing barring a star turn from Young — and we wouldn’t bet on that after his performance in 2023. Carolina’s Super Bowl drought will extend into the 2060s.
Chicago Bears — 2033
The Bears have made a habit of making poor choices over the past few decades. And, even when they are good, they find heartbreaking ways to lose — five turnovers in the Super Bowl and the double-doink. However, it feels as if the franchise is finally on the upswing ahead of the 2024-25 season. With a talented roster and Caleb Williams now in tow, Chicago has a golden opportunity to make a move in the NFC. It will take a decade, but the Bears will win the Super Bowl in 2033 to end a 48-year drought.
Cincinnati Bengals — 2030
A Super Bowl loss in 2021 was followed by a narrow loss in the 2022 AFC Championship. As a result, Cincinnati was a trendy pick to lift the Lombardi Trophy this past season. However, a season-ending injury to Joe Burrow ultimately doomed the season. The Bengals will remain a contender as long as Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase are in town. Like Buffalo, Cincinnati will have to get through Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs if it wants to win its first Super Bowl. And, in 2030, that will finally happen. Burrow and Co. will defeat the Green Bay Packers, 31-20.
Cleveland Browns — 2039
At one time in their history, the Cleveland Browns were one of the best franchises in football. During the Super Bowl era, however, Cleveland has been one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Browns have won five playoff games since 1970 and have failed to reach the AFC Championship since 1989. The current team has a stacked defense and some serious talent on offense, but we cannot envision the team knocking off three or four opponents in the postseason en route to lifting the Lombardi. 15 years from now it will be their time.
Dallas Cowboys — 2041
The Cowboys won three-of-four Super Bowls in the 1990s and they are still living off that epic run. In the 28 years since their third Super Bowl triumph in four seasons, the Cowboys have failed to return to the big game. In fact, America’s Team has only won five playoff games in that time and hasn’t reached the NFC Championship. Dallas has won 12 games each of the past three years…and is 1-3 in the postseason. The heartbreak will last another decade and a half before Dallas returns to its former glory.
Denver Broncos — 2045
The glory days of the John Elway era are long gone. With Elway at quarterback, Denver appeared in five Super Bowls. Three losses were followed by back-to-back triumphs in 1997 and 1998. In 2015, a dominant defense led Denver to its third Super Bowl victory. However, the wheels have fallen off since that win. Denver has one winning season since Super Bowl 50 and has failed to reach the postseason. With Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert in the AFC West, it doesn’t feel like the drought will end any time soon. 20 years from now — when Mahomes is retired — Denver will reach the peak once again.
Detroit Lions — 2036
Detroit has long been one of the NFL’s most tortured franchises. Between 1963 and 2022, the Lions won one playoff game. One win in nearly 60 years. Last year, the Lions were agonizingly close to reaching their first Super Bowl. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. We believe Detroit will be a good team in the coming years and will even reach two Super Bowls between 2025 and 2035 — but it will come up short until 2036. After waiting all of these years, what’s another 12?
Green Bay Packers — 2028
Green Bay’s quarterback witchcraft seemingly continues to work. After enjoying decades of excellence with Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers playing under center, the Packers opted to give Jordan Love a chance to run the show. In his first year as a starter, Love developed into a star and led Green Bay to the postseason. As Love continues to progress as a QB, he will lead a loaded team deep into the playoffs yearly. In 2028, the Packers will hoist the Lombardi Trophy once again. The real question is: Can Love do what Favre and Rodgers couldn’t and win a second Super Bowl?
Houston Texans — 2034
C.J. Stroud is the truth and the league is on notice. Prior to Stroud’s arrival in Houston, the Texans had gone 11-38 the three previous years. Last year, Stroud led the Texans to 10 wins and the AFC South title. Free agents are flocking to Houston and the team seemingly has a good front office/head coach pairing in place. With Stroud in command of the offense, Houston appears to be one of the next teams in line to challenge Kansas City for AFC supremacy. It will take a few years, but the Texans will finish their story in 2034.
Indianapolis Colts — 2046
Does 22 years seem like a long time for this franchise? Maybe. However, the AFC is simply loaded with elite quarterbacks at the moment and we are not sure what Anthony Richardson will look like over the course of a full season. The Colts waited 36 years between their two Super Bowl victories and we envision the wait being 40 years this time around. 40 years is a long time, but it’s not bad compared to the wait one of Indy’s division rials will have to endure…
Jacksonville Jaguars — 2088
Our apologies, Jags fans. Established in 1995, Jacksonville has reached the AFC Championship three times in its brief existence and has fallen short each time. By the time 2088 rolls around, the Jaguars may not be in Jacksonville — and most of us won’t be around to see the Floridian franchise win their first Super Bowl. Trevor Lawrence was supposed to be the savior, but the Jags will need a lot more help in order to break their dry spell.
Kansas City Chiefs — 2026
Patrick Mahomes is 28 years old. The Chiefs have won three Super Bowls since 2019 and have appeared in four of the last five editions of the game. The back-to-back champs may win their third in a row next year, but we are predicting a one-year lull before Mahomes and Co. win number four.
Las Vegas Raiders — 2043
The Raiders are in a tough position. As long as Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are leading the charge in Kansas City, it will be tough for anybody to take over the AFC. Las Vegas will not only have to compete with Mahomes and Reid, but also the Chargers duo of Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh and Denver head coach Sean Payton. 19 years from now Vegas will bring its first Super Bowl to Sin City and end its 60-year drought.
Los Angeles Chargers — 2031
The Chargers have had some very good teams throughout their history and have been home to some truly elite players. However, the franchise has a history of underachieving and has yet to raise the Lombardi. Like the Raiders and Broncos, Los Angeles is in a tough spot as long as Mahomes is with the Chiefs. However, Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh are an elite QB/HC duo and should be able to be a contender soon. In 2031, the Chargers will knock off the Dallas Cowboys to win their first Super Bowl.
Los Angeles Rams — 2032
With Sean McVay long gone, the Rams will win their third Super Bowl in 2032 — one year after the Chargers bring Los Angeles the Lombardi Trophy. The Rams are one of the more well-run franchises in the NFL and we expect that to continue over the next decade. As a result, Los Angeles will be one of the NFC’s top contenders for years to come. In ’32, Arch Manning will become the third Manning to win it all and cement himself as the second-best QB in the family behind Peyton.
Miami Dolphins — 2053
Perhaps it’s the tax for being the only team to complete an NFL season with an undefeated record. Miami hasn’t sniffed a Super Bowl since 1984. A decade after going undefeated and winning back-to-back Super Bowls the following year, Dan Marino led Miami to its last Super Bowl appearance and lost 38-16. The Dolphins have fielded some good teams in the decades since that loss, but they haven’t won an AFC Championship since ’84. The champagne will not be popped in Miami until 2053.
Minnesota Vikings — 2050
Minnesota is still waiting to win its first Super Bowl. From 1969 to 1976, the Vikings went 0-4 in the Super Bowl — losing all four games by double-digits. In 1998, the Vikes went 15-1 and appeared destined to reach the big game…only to lose the NFC Championship in overtime. Minnesota’s torturous wait will continue for nearly three more decades. After watching all three division rivals lift the Lombardi before them, Minnesota will come out on top in 2050 — defeating the expansion franchise from Mexico City.
New England Patriots — 2075
Six Super Bowl victories between 2001 and 2018 is more than enough. With Tom Brady and Bill Belichick distant memories, the Patriots will win their seventh ring in 2075.
New Orleans Saints — 2052
Drew Brees was an elite quarterback for the Saints for the better part of 15 years. Even with Brees and one of the league’s better coaches (Sean Payton), the Saints were only able to reach — and win — one Super Bowl. Before Brees came along New Orleans was a poor franchise. And while we don’t envision the franchise falling into the depths of the NFL, we also don’t foresee a ton of high-level success. The Saints will play in two Super Bowls before capturing their second title in 2052.
New York Giants — 2048
The Giants have won four Super Bowls — 1986, 1990, 2007 and 2011 — but have only reached the playoffs two times since their second SB upset over the New England Patriots. As the two top teams in the NFC East continue to strive for glory, the Giants will languish towards the bottom of the division alongside Washington. Three decades of agony will come to an end two years before the calendar flips to 2050.
New York Jets — 2042
2023 was supposed to be the year the Jets contended for the AFC title. Instead, Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on the first drive of the year — and the season all but ended at that moment. While Rodgers is set to return next season, we find it hard to believe he will be ready to carry New York to the top of the mountain. Rodgers leaves New York without a second Super Bowl, and the Jets must wait 18 more years for their second title.
Philadelphia Eagles — 2027
The Eagles were painfully close to beating Kansas City two years ago to win a second Super Bowl. Now, following a horrific collapse to end last season, the Eagles are looking to rebound with another deep run in 2024-25. Philadelphia has a star quarterback, top receiver, and a roster littered with talent. We expect the Eagles to compete in the coming years and claim another championship in 2027.
Pittsburgh Steelers — 2038
Russell Wilson is not the answer. Justin Fields wasn’t the answer in Chicago and fans that watched the Bears weekly will tell you that he wasn’t going to figure it out if he remained with the franchise. Perhaps he will become a star in Pittsburgh. Or, he will remain an average quarterback and the Steelers will fall behind Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Cleveland in the AFC North. We are betting on the latter. Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl drought will reach 30 years before it wins its next title.
San Francisco 49ers — 2025
San Francisco has five Super Bowl victories to its name, but the franchise has been on the wrong side of its biggest games recently. Since 2011, the Niners have appeared in the NFC Championship seven times — they are 3-4. In the Super Bowl, they are 0-3 and have arguably choked away two titles (both against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs). San Francisco is too talented to come up short every year. The Niners win the Lombardi Trophy next year.
Seattle Seahawks — 2040
What will the Seahawks look like without Pete Carroll? Carroll took over as head coach in 2010 and led Seattle through its best stretch in franchise history. From 2010 to 2023, the Seahawks won nine or more games 11 times and failed to reach the playoffs just four times. Of course, Carroll’s team also went to two Super Bowls — going 1-1. We believe the Seahawks will remain competitive without Carroll, but they will have to wait more than 15 years before they win their second trophy.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers — 2044
Tom Brady’s first team will have to wait more than five decades before they win another Super Bowl, and his second team will fall short for two decades. The Bucs captured lightning in a bottle when Brady opted to join the team ahead of the 2020 season but it will be a while before they replicate that success. 2044 will mark Tampa’s third Super Bowl appearance and it will continue its undefeated run in the big game.
Tennessee Titans — 2060
In the franchise’s third year in Tennessee — and first as the Titans — it reached the Super Bowl. It has been 25 years since the Titans came up one yard short against the Rams and they haven’t returned to that stage. We can’t help but think the franchise is doomed to fall short. With an MVP QB (Steve McNair) and star running back (Eddie George), the Titans won 11+ games four times in five years but never won it all. With Derrick Henry, a strong defense, and a solid head coach (Mike Vrabel), Tennessee won 9+ games six years in a row and advanced to the AFC Championship one time. By 2060, the franchise will hit all of the right notes. Until then, good luck.
Washington Commanders — 2058
At one time, Washington was one of the NFL’s elite teams. Three Super Bowl wins in 10 years had the franchise loving life. Since that last Super Bowl in 1991, however, Washington has just three playoff wins to its name and just one since 2000. The Commanders may get lucky and draft a franchise quarterback in 2024…but their recent history doesn’t give us much faith. 2058 will be Washington’s time to shine.
