The advent of AI as a creative tool truly enables us to explore a plethora of different things. One of which is the ‘what if’ element of uniforms — and in the case of the NFL — helmets. Using an AI tool, we’ve come up with reimagined home and away helmets for all 32 NFL franchises. These new looks are based on preexisting color schemes and the mascots themselves. Did you like the way your team turned out?
1. Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals introduced new uniforms following the 2022 season, and they weren’t met with great reviews. If the franchise has one thing going for it at this time, it’s its helmet combo. The primary helmet — the white lid featuring the cardinal head — is pretty solid. The intro of last year’s black/red shimmering helmet is also rather nice. In this AI reimagination, the Cardinals are given a two-tone helmet that incorporates their two primary colors. It is better than Jacksonville’s old two-tone shell.
2. Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis has one of the most recognizable helmets in the NFL. The classic horseshoe look is a strong one, but this new AI helmet would be a wild addition. Featuring a gold facemask and tri-colored striping atop the helmet, the real star is the blue horse. Nobody would confuse this look with any other team, and the dinosaur-esque snout on the horse is intimidating.
3. New England Patriots
While we all wait for the Patriots to return to their old, Pat Patriot helmets — let’s take a look into the future. A navy shell replaces the primary silver dome, while the red facemask receives a metallic upgrade. It is easy to imagine New England taking the field wearing this helmet and its Color Rush uniform.
4. Chicago Bears
This is a downgrade. The pattern seen in the blue paint looks more like feathers than the fur of a bear. The orange stripe is an unnecessary addition, and the metallic facemask is an eye sore. The Bears have a strong look, and this ain’t it. However, there is a better option for the Bears still to come…
5. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons introduced one of the league’s best helmets last season. Atlanta’s red, throwback helmet is truly a thing of beauty and should be the primary lid. If the team is to add a third look in future seasons, this white helmet wouldn’t be a bad option. The black facemask compliments the white well, and the red stripe is an easy choice.
6. Carolina Panthers
AI has created a better looking helmet than Carolina introduced last season. In 2022, the Panthers added a black helmet to their wardrobe — the first time in franchise history the team had an option to wear something other than its classic, silver helmet. While the new look is okay, this AI creation is great. The panther remains the star of the show, but the subtle gold mixes very well with the black and blue.
7. Washington Commanders
Admittedly, this look isn’t much different than Washington’s primary helmet. The ‘W’ is retained in this version, but it appears to (loosely) draw some inspiration from D.C.’s architecture. The burgundy and gold remains elite, so this helmet gets a nod of approval from us.
8. Minnesota Vikings
For the first time so far, AI has taken things to an extreme place. This Minnesota helmet features some familiar sights — namely the purple lid and the iconic horn. However, the addition of the gold facemask is new and it looks great. The horns…we don’t know how to feel. The NFL wouldn’t allow this look as the horns would be a safety hazard for everyone on the field, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Perhaps the horns can have a light material that would fold on contact?
9. Cleveland Browns
On the heels of Cleveland introducing an alternate helmet in real life, we will present two more options designed by AI. We aren’t sure what to make of the first look. The helmet somewhat resembles a marble cake? The orange facemask is a bit of overkill. The second look is a lot better — stay tuned.
10. Denver Broncos
As fans pine for a return of Denver’s old helmets, this AI helmet represents a step in the right direction. The helmet immediately improves thanks to a lighter shade of blue. Additionally, the orange mask is a better compliment than the current navy facemask.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars
Okay AI, we see you. Jacksonville has struggled to maintain a strong helmet since it abandoned its OG dome in 2013. The two-tone helmet that replaced the original was a mess, and while the current helmet is better than the two-tone — the logo itself is somewhat weak. This wild design features an angry looking jaguar and the color scheme pops. We would support this immediately.
12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This design isn’t too far off from Tampa Bay’s current helmet. The flag is a bit more dynamic — and comes off the back of the helmet like Minnesota’s horns — and the skull has some added aggression. A gold facemask replaces the black mask, and the helmet itself looks like it came straight off a pirate ship. We could see this on a field.
13. Cincinnati Bengals
Yeah…AI didn’t do well here. The Bengals have the most unique helmet in the NFL, and their new ‘White Bengal’ lid is arguably the league’s best look. It was going to be very hard for AI to top Cincy’s helmet combo, and this easily falls short.
14. Philadelphia Eagles
Are those scales? The look of an eagle hatching from an egg? We are unsure. This helmet doesn’t stray too far from Philadelphia’s primary helmet, but it easily a downgrade. The facemask is either brown or bronze — and neither color fits the team’s color scheme. More from this franchise in a few slides.
15. Green Bay Packers
It’s hard to mess with a classic, and the AI clearly didn’t want to go too far away from Green Bay’s iconic look. The only thing that changes with this helmet is the shell has gone from yellow to white. It is not as good as the OG, but it works. The Packers have a more extreme look featured further down.
16. Detroit Lions
MAKE. THIS. HAPPEN. The Lions are a team on the rise, and this helmet would be an intimidating sight to opposing teams. The silver lion has one of the largest fangs you’ll ever see, and an eye that looks like Jon Snow’s sword in Game of Thrones.
17. New York Jets
Is it possible AI drew inspiration from Aaron Rodgers’ tattoo for this helmet? We can’t rule it out. Whether that is the case or not, we like this look. The green is strong, and the logo is unique. The Jets have been bad for a long time, maybe a bizarre helmet is just what they need to flip the script.
18. San Francisco 49ers
Two-tone isn’t ideal, but this helmet is acceptable. San Francisco’s red takes up a majority of the shell, and looks as if it is ready to completely engulf the trademark gold. The gold facemask helps balance the look — if it were red, this would be a lot worse.
19. Tennessee Titans
What the hell is that? The Titans retain their color scheme in this new helmet, but we don’t know where to start with the logo. The creature is terrifying. We’re going to go out on a limb and say it’s supposed to be a Chupacabra. If it is, we’re on board.
20. Los Angeles Chargers
There isn’t much to be said about this addition to the Chargers’ helmet game. It is a winner. 100%.
21. Buffalo Bills
The Bills have three colors in their color scheme — red, white and blue. From 1962-1983, the Bills donned a white shell. From 1984-2010, the helmet was red. It is now back to white. What’s missing? Blue. AI took the easy route with this look and it works. Do it, Buffalo.
22. New Orleans Saints
This helmet looks like it was designed by someone who spent too much time celebrating Mardi Gras. It is as if someone became tired of painting the helmet gold and decided to call it quits. The worst helmet we’ve seen? No. Is it something that should be worn? Absolutely not.
23. Kansas City Chiefs
This helmet has a few notable changes. For starters, the arrowhead appears to be stretched out. Also, Kansas City’s facemask has gone from white to red. The white facemask is an important part of the iconic helmet, but the red looks fine here. As for the random yellow pattern on the shell…we are fans. It is an unnecessary addition, but it works.
24. Dallas Cowboys
Dallas’ first AI helmet on our list is a decent one. One could argue that the star becomes a bit lost in the blue shell, but we think it stands out enough thanks to the outline. The silver facemask is dope, and the specks of color within the blue shell are unique. There are better options to come, but this is a good start.
25. Miami Dolphins
Up until this point, AI had given us some pretty tame helmets. This? Straight nightmare fuel. The dolphin has the body of a blue whale and the tail of a minnow. Add in the algae growing on the helmet and you have a serious problem.
26. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s classic silver helmet is beautiful. The current navy lid is pretty solid in its own right. And, this helmet would be a perfect fit for the team’s Color Rush uniform. Can you imagine this helmet paired with the neon unis? So can we. Not bad at all, Seattle.
27. Houston Texans
The Texans are in dire need of an overhaul — both in terms of talent and their look. The introduction of a red helmet last year was a good step, but more needs to be done. This white helmet looks similar to the two real helmets at first glance. However, this logo features three stars/eyes instead of one and has a different color scheme. What do you think of it?
28. Las Vegas Raiders
AI went all out with all of the Raiders’ helmets (just wait). This first option looks like it was inspired by royalty. With jewels surrounding a revamped logo and a facemask shimmering in the candle light, this design is certainly extreme. The Raider itself is somehow intimidating and goofy at the same time. A downgrade, yes. However, it is undeniably a Raiders helmet.
29. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have featured horns on their helmet since 1948. The design was ahead of its time, and the franchise has had some pretty good looks over the decades. This creation has prominent, 3D horns on the side. Like the Vikings’ horns from earlier, there is no chance this helmet would be allowed by the NFL. However, it is actually decent. If the white was replaced by blue, we may be tempted to call it a winner.
30. Baltimore Ravens
You know, this helmet works. The Ravens can wear a helmet that has feathers — deal with it. Imagine how much faster everyone would look with these feathers coming off the back of the helmet…
31. Pittsburgh Steelers
This one is definitely going to be controversial. Pittsburgh’s helmet is iconic. With the logo on only one side of the helmet and unchanged since 1963, there is no mistaking who is playing when you see Pittsburgh’s helmet in action. This version has added a fourth hypocycloid (the diamond shape) and a yellow hue to the logo, has some construction/electricity-inspired features on the shell, and is completed by a gold facemask.
32. Detroit Lions
We loved the first Detroit helmet that AI created, and we are also fans of this look. The lion is a mix of the big cat and a jack-o-lantern, and Detroit’s classic blue remains prominent on the shell. We are a bit unsure of the gold facemask — silver would be better — but this is a passable look overall.
33. Chicago Bears
Chicago’s second AI helmet is something new for the franchise. Gone is the trademark ‘C’, in its place a take on Chicago’s bear logo. While there is some room for improvement with the bear itself, this helmet is pretty strong. The facemask is strong, and the texture of the navy shell is unique. Overall, we will give this helmet a solid B.
34. Cleveland Browns
You either love Cleveland’s plain orange helmet if you hate it. And, we’re imagining you’re thoughts towards this helmet are the complete opposite. Drawing inspiration from the fan group known as “The Dawg Pound,” this helmet is a drastic departure from the norm.
35. Denver Broncos
The orange paint may be chipping, but we still like this AI creation. Denver likes to wear orange, so why not bust out an all-orange helmet? The Bronco logo remains unchanged here, and there is a stripe reminiscent of Denver’s old look. The only way to upgrade this helmet would be to possibly color the facemask white.
36. Seattle Seahawks
Seattle’s first helmet was a rather safe look, but this one is far from safe. In addition to adding gold to the color palette, a new-look Seahawk logo takes center stage. Additionally, a forest-esque pattern is seen behind the logo — which fits perfectly with the Northwest. One issue with this helmet is that it may be mistaken for an Eagles lid.
37. Indianapolis Colts
Did the Indianapolis Colts turn into the Boise State Broncos? This is fine, but the first option earlier in this article is our preferred AI look for the Colts.
38. Washington Commanders
We’re searching for answers here. When the Washington Football Team was renamed the Washington Commanders, fans were largely unimpressed with the choice. Their current helmet is a ‘W’, and AI’s first attempt at redesigning the helmet also resulted in a ‘W’. This one…at least the burgundy and gold remain. Why there is a bird, we have no clue.
39. Jacksonville Jaguars
AI is 2-for-2 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. This helmet looks similar to the first, but the big cat covers the entire shell this time around. Again, there is no confusing who this helmet belongs to.
40. New York Jets
Simple. Simple, but powerful. This shade of green looks tough, and the gold gives a bit of shine to keep it from being too dull. Additionally, it appears as if there may be some Air Force influence on the helmet stripe. Very nice.
41. Carolina Panthers
This feels like a helmet that debuted in the mid-2010s. Carolina’s logo has been blown up to cover much of the helmet — ala Tampa Bay’s misfire — and has seen a random tooth added to the mouth. While we liked the hint of gold in the first helmet, the gold facemask here misses the mark.
42. New England Patriots
Remember what we said about the New England helmet earlier? Ditto all of that, but with a black shell instead of navy. Good stuff from Tom Brady’s former team.
43. Las Vegas Raiders
“Adding gold to the Raiders color scheme is a logical choice after the move to bright lights of Las Vegas. We are not entirely sure what the logo is going for, it looks possibly more fitting for a Saints mascot. We have something to work with, but the execution is lacking and there are far too many things going on.”
That quote came straight from a diehard Raiders fan.
44. Baltimore Ravens
This helmet looks nearly identical to the AI’s first attempt at designing the Ravens’ new helmet. Other than being a little darker than the first shell, this one also features a revamped logo…one which looks a little too much like the Philadelphia Eagles.
45. Dallas Cowboys
A bolder, flashier version of the first Dallas helmet — we have a winner. Can’t you imagine Jerry Jones adding gold to Dallas’ color scheme if the end result was this vibrant helmet? Us too. And hey, maybe the Cowboys would be able to reach the Super Bowl again.
46. Green Bay Packers
AI took a classic look and spruced it up a bit. It’s hard to imagine the Green Bay Packers embracing a chrome look, but this is pretty nice. If anything, the facemask should be green like the OG helmet. With that addition we have a solid ‘A’ helmet.
47. Tennessee Titans
CHUPACABRA > THIS.
We didn’t think we would miss Tennessee’s other helmet so soon.
48. Cincinnati Bengals
This doesn’t compare to Cincinnati’s traditional helmet nor its ‘White Bengal’, but this is pretty cool. It looks like something we could see in the future if the franchise decides to alter its classic dome.
49. San Francisco 49ers
Instead of a gold shell and grey facemask, AI opted for an all-red shell and gold mask. It is a pretty cool look for the Niners, though we can’t see them adopting this full time over their classic helmet. Out of all of the helmets so far, however, this one is one of the most realistic options.
50. Denver Broncos
“Looks pretty close to what it already is. The matte blue is cool. Unsure of the color of the facemask, but like the streak design on the helmet that comes from it.”
Those words came straight from the keyboard of a diehard Broncos fan.
51. Arizona Cardinals
What is going on with the red stripe? We can’t quite decide if we like it or not. It’s a change of pace from Arizona’s normal, bland, look — but we need a straight-ahead view to see how wide the stripe truly is. This helmet easily can be a ‘B’ or a ‘D-‘.
52. Minnesota Vikings
There was no way AI was going to design helmets for the Vikings and not have actual horns coming off the shell. This take on Minnesota’s helmet is our favorite. The gold pops, and the gold pattern on the purple part of the shell fits perfectly.
53. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay’s first helmet in this article was a twist on the current look, and this one combines the ‘Creamsicle’ helmet with the current lid. We like this one a lot. The skull is intimidating, and we think the two eras are perfectly blended. Wouldn’t be mad to see this one on the field.
54. Jacksonville Jaguars
Of the three Jacksonville helmets created by AI, this is the closest to the current look. The jaguar logo is similar to the real thing — but is front-facing instead of a profile shot. The teal pattern and gold facemask are nice, but we have questions about the cobweb at the top of the helmet.
55. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have arguably the best look in the NFL, but this helmet would probably be their worst one. The light blue is fantastic, but the white bottom of the helmet knocks this down a notch or two. Thankfully, this would be an easy fix.
56. Miami Dolphins
Okay, the AI really must not like the Dolphins. That or it is intentionally trying to creep us out. The only two things going for this version are that the dolphin is proportioned better — sans the leg coming out of its stomach — and there is no algae on the helmet.
57. Philadelphia Eagles
We’re going to call this one the ‘Winking Eagle’. AI decided the logo was going to have a closed eye, but other wise this helmet is pretty cool. The texture and color of the green shell is unique and would be a welcomed addition to the league. We would prefer a black facemask, but the gold isn’t terrible.
58. Chicago Bears
Take 3 for the Chicago Bears. This time, a futuristic take on the bear logo. The pattern of the bear mesh well with the pattern of the navy shell. And, once again, the orange facemask and orange stripe are great compliments. It is hard to mess up the Bears’ look.
59. Seattle Seahawks
First, we love the shade of green on this helmet. It would be even better if the feather texture was missing entirely. As for the gold logo…it looks like that famous melting clocks painting (The Persistence of Memory). Not a great look overall, but the shade of green is something to work with.
60. Pittsburgh Steelers
This screams ‘Steel City’. We will ignore the fact that it also looks like something out of Transformers, though.
61. New York Giants
Giants are mythical creatures, and this helmet looks like something straight out of the depths of a magical forest. This isn’t the worst helmet of the bunch, but it is certainly near the bottom.
62. Dallas Cowboys
It is only a matter of time before the Dallas Cowboys debut a black helmet. And, if this is close to what that future helmet turns out to be, AI did a good job.
63. Indianapolis Colts
AI loves gold. We have seen at least 15 facemasks dipped in gold at this point. As for the shell, it takes some work to recognize the colt at first. Once you do the helmet isn’t terrible — but it’s still pretty lame. It also looks like it would fit with the newly unveiled alternate uniform.
64. Las Vegas Raiders
The RAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAS.
