NFL Head Coach Salaries, Ranked

T-21. Mike Zimmer, Vikings — $4 Million

When the Vikings hired Mike Zimmer back in 2014, the team had one goal in mind: Improve the defense. Zimmer has always been a defensive-minded coach. Before joining the Vikings, Zimmer spent time as Dallas, Atlanta, and Cincinnati’s defensive coordinator. While with the Bengals, Zimmer’s defense was consistently amongst the league’s best — finishing top-10 in both yards and points allowed on four separate occasions.

Now in his eighth year on the Minnesota sideline, Zimmer has become a staple within the organization. There have been some ups and downs throughout his tenure, but he has kept the Vikings competitive throughout the last decade. Zimmer is already well-regarded for his game planning and work ethic, but he can ascend into the higher ranks of coaches if he ever were able to capture that elusive Super Bowl ring.
