NFL 2021: Ranking All 32 QB/WR Duos

28. Jalen Hurts & DeVonta Smith — Eagles

QB to WR Stats (Alabama): 8 receptions, 160 yards, 3 TD – w/Hurts as the starter

Just as Miami reunited Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle, Philadelphia opted to pair Jalen Hurts with DeVonta Smith. Back when Hurts was still the starting QB for Alabama in 2017, Smith was a seldom used freshman. However, when Hurts threw the ball Smith’s way it usually resulted in a big play. Smith averaged 20.0 YPC with Hurts at QB. With Philadelphia last season, Hurts had one of the weakest receiving corps in league at his disposal.

As a result, the rookie struggled to find a reliable target. Coming off two incredible years with Alabama — including a Heisman Trophy triumph in 2020 thanks to 117 receptions, 1,856 yards, and 23 TD — Smith will immediately become the top wideout in Philadelphia. Look for Hurts to target his former collegiate teammate early and often.
