Manning Brothers Headline Must-Start Fantasy Quarterbacks In Week 5

Through one quarter of the season, who would’ve ever thought the top-five at the position would be Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton, Cam Newton, Tyrod Taylor and Carson Palmer? While quarterback has arguably been the most surprising position in fantasy football thus far, Week 5 is when some of the former familiar names should get back on track. Let’s take a look at who is (and isn’t) poised to have a big week.

3 Must-Start Quarterbacks This Week

Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos
Wrist StretchDuring Manning’s career in Denver, he has played at Oakland three times, totaling 916 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. Playing against a porous Oakland defense that has made Josh McCown and Jay Cutler look like fantasy studs the past two weeks, Manning should pick them apart. He’s a no-brainer this week, so long as his spine doesn’t rupture at any point in the game.

Eli Manning – New York Giants
Wrist StretchAfter a shaky first start in Dallas, the other Manning brother has really found his groove in the past three games. His touchdown-to-interception ratio of 7:1 is exceptional for Eli’s standards, and the Giants play the 49ers at home on Sunday night. The 49ers defense has been obliterated this season, and that shouldn’t change this weekend at the Meadowlands.

Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints
Wrist StretchWithout his game-winning 80 yard touchdown pass to C.J. Spiller, Brees’ stats would have been much less impressive. However, the Eagles have given up at least 250 passing yards against each opponent so far. The Saints are on the road, but given Philly’s recent troubles on both sides of the ball, Brees should be a quality start for his fantasy owners in Week 5.

Nick Foles – St. Louis Rams
Wrist StretchSince being dealt to St. Louis, Foles has been respectable as the Rams starting quarterback. He received an extension before the season, meaning the team liked him enough to give him some extra security. Coming off a big win against the Cardinals on the road, Foles will come back down to Earth this weekend at Green Bay. With the Rams also set for a Week 6 bye, now is a good time to drop Foles.

Marcus Mariota – Tennessee Titans
Wrist StretchOver their first 3 games, Mariota has looked exceptional, throwing for eight touchdowns and 833 yards. Although they came up short against the Colts in their last game, Tennessee plays at home coming off their Week 4 bye. The Titans will be forced to throw early and often, because the ground game is sure to struggle with Bishop Sankey and Antonio Andrews leading the way. With an extra week of rest and preparation, Mariota looms as a potential top 10 fantasy quarterback.
