Career Stats/Accolades: Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP, 3-time NFL passing leader, 2-time AFL MVP
Namath’s numbers certainly don’t hold up when compared to his peers (173 touchdowns to 220 interceptions; 50.1 completion percentage). With that said, his impact goes beyond the numbers. Namath’s presence, demeanor, and confidence was invaluable for one of the most hapless franchises in professional football. His performance (following his bold prediction) in Super Bowl III against the heavily-favored Baltimore Colts will live in football history for the rest of time.
