Davante Adams’ time in Las Vegas seems to be coming close to an end. The team is headed nowhere after an embarrassing home loss to the Carolina Panthers. Adams is sitting out the team’s Week 4 tilt versus the Browns, leading some to speculate if he has played his last game in a Raider jersey. It’s probably in the best interest of both sides to get a deal done sooner rather than later. Adams gets shipped to a contending team while the Raiders recoup some picks they can use for a rebuild. Here are four potential destinations that we think could be interesting landing spots for the start wideout:
Buffalo Bills
The Bills no longer have a true WR1 after Stefon Diggs left in the offseason. Thus far, it hasn’t matter as Buffalo has dominated their early opponents en route to an undefeated start. Josh Allen has spread the ball around and is playing some of the best football of his career. There lies a chance that adding a player as talented as Adams could lead to Allen forcing more passes his way and clogging the offense. However, the Bills will eventually get to a point in the season where they need playmakers who can consistently win their matchups. Adams ultimately would help Buffalo’s other pass catchers like Dalton Kincaid, Khalil Shakir, and Keon Coleman get easier looks. Allen and Adams on the same offense would give Buffalo two of the most creative playmakers in the NFL at their respective positions.
New Orleans Saints
A reunion in New Orleans for Adams and Derek Carr. Adams joined the Raiders to play with his former college QB. He’s previously said he was displeased with the organization when they let Carr go after the disappointing 2022 season. In one year together, Adams registered 100 receptions, 1,516 yards, and a league-leading 14 TDs. Additionally, Adams posted a career-high 15.2 yards-per-reception average that year. They have a rapport on and off the field, and the Saints look poised to make a NFC playoff run. While the team has two speedsters in Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, they’re missing a guy who can make contested catches and routinely move the sticks. Adams would add a whole new dimension to one of the better offenses in the NFL.
Pittsburgh Steelers
This would be an interesting fit. The Steelers have expressed their desire to add a No. 1 receiver. It seemed like they were close to acquiring Brandon Aiyuk before he ultimately decided to sign an extension with the 49ers. The Steelers have looked excellent defensively thus far, and QB Justin Fields is coming into his own on his new team. Pittsburgh has some intriguing prospects at wideout, but the only player defenses truly have to worry about is the third-year Georgia standout, George Pickens. Adding a star wideout the caliber of Adams could elevate this group from playoff hopeful into AFC contender status.
New York Jets
The favorites to land Adams should be the New York Jets. It all makes too much sense. The Aaron Rodgers connection is obvious. The duo were dominant together during their years in Green Bay. They both speak highly of each other given any opportunity. The team is desperate to win now with a 40-year-old QB in tow. Adams turns 32 in December, which could make some suitors a bit more hesitant to give up serious draft capital in a potential trade. The Jets shouldn’t be part of that group. Adams fits their timeline, and they will be willing to part with a couple of picks for the chance to add a three-time All-Pro wideout. Adams, Garrett Wilson, and Mike Williams form a stacked group of receivers at Rodgers’ disposal.
