25. Notre Dame at Florida State (Sept. 5)
This isn’t your big brother’s Florida State. Long gone are the days of Peter Warrick, Charlie Ward, and Jameis Winston. The Seminoles went 3-6 last year in Mike Norvell’s first year. Even before the season, there were weird reports coming out of Tallahassee as it pertained to his leadership abilities as a coach. FSU went 3-6 last year and never really gelled despite having decent talent. There’s still a smattering of high-end talent on the roster.
However, it appears as if FSU is running third behind in-state rivals Florida and Miami in that category. To offset those issues, Norvell brought in 12(!) transfers from other programs. Some of the more notable ones include OL Dillan Gibbons (Notre Dame), RB D.J. Williams (Auburn), DL Keir Thomas (South Carolina), OLB/DE Jermaine Thomas (Georgia), and QB McKenzie MIlton (UCF). The ‘Noles will have a puncher’s chance in this game. However, Notre Dame likely will enter as a sizable favorite.
