28. R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle — New York Knicks
The rebuild is fully underway as the Knickerbockers seem to have yet again struck out in free agency. Thus far, New York’s return after years of tanking has been mediocre. The team’s best draft pick of the past decade — Kristaps Porzingis — is now in Dallas. Frank Ntilikina has developed zero offensive game, and Kevin Knox predictably struggled in his rookie season. The Knicks’ two best young players — Barrett and center Mitchell Robinson — appear to be solid foundational pieces, with the former getting the nod for this piece because of his stronger pedigree.
With plenty of cap space to spare, New York splurged on bruising big man Julius Randle in the offseason. Randle surely has his warts as a player, but he’s a proven scorer who can fill up a stat sheet.
