Longtime NBA veteran Robert Horry enjoyed a fantastic career that saw him win seven NBA Championships.
Nicknamed “Big Shot Bob” for his ability to hit timely shots, many in the city of Los Angeles remember him as a key cog in the Lakers’ three-peat from 2000-02. He still reportedly lives in the area and also has appeared as an analyst on Lakers-centric pregame shows. While his playing days are over, he’ll still be close to the action courtesy of his son, Christian.
The 2024 high school prospect out of famed Harvard-Westlake High School announced a commitment to UCLA on Thursday evening as a walk-on athlete. The 6’4″ guard is known for his elite shooting beyond the perimeter. He’s also said to be a fantastic student, a hard worker, a dedicated defender, and a very cerebral player on the court.
While he’s not the premier player on his high school squad, Horry does all of the little things to help his team win. When analyzing the traits he brings to the table, this is a fantastic addition to the program for head coach Mick Cronin. Horry is already a borderline D1 player.
To be able to add him as a walk-on was quite a shrewd move. Down the line, Horry could very well emerge as a scholarship-level player. You can never have enough shooting or on-ball defense. Plus, having “Big Shot Bob” hanging out at Pauley Pavilion isn’t a bad thing, either.
