Re-Drafting The Absolutely Terrible 2013 NBA Draft

30. Álex Abrines – Phoenix Suns

Original Spot For Abrines: 32nd Overall (Oklahoma City)
Original 30th Pick: Nemanja Nedović

Nedović played in only 24 games for the Warriors before making the leap back to Europe. The “grab and stash” mantra hasn’t worked out quite well for the Suns in this scenario. As such Abrines makes a lot of sense at this point in the draft. The 23-year-old Spaniard can play multiple positions on the floor. Thought not an elite defender, Abrines has passable lateral quickness. Thus far with the Thunder, he has shown the ability to be an irritant on that end of the floor — largely based upon the energy level with which he plays. He shot a respectable 38.1-percent from three and 89.8-percent from the free-throw line. Abrines isn’t going to be an All-Star, but he could develop into a very nice reserve.
