Though the ‘Super Team’ craze has taken the NBA by storm, there are plenty of storylines surrounding the elite young talent in the league.
This piece will rank the young cores of each team in the NBA. Here’s the stipulation: These teams will be placed based upon the players currently on their roster younger than 25. In other words, these individuals spoken about are 24 years old or younger.
30. Cleveland Cavaliers
Players under 25 years of age: Kay Felder
At 22 years old, guard Kay Felder is the only player currently on the Cavs’ roster under 25. Cleveland has been in championship mode ever since LeBron James returned to his hometown squad. As such, the front office was willing to part with first-round picks for veteran commodities. In the short term, this scenario pays off.
However, Cleveland does not have any young talent on its roster (outside of 25-year-old Kyrie Irving). Should LeBron leave next season, we could be looking at a massive rebuilding project.
29. Memphis Grizzlies
Players under 25 years of age: Deyonta Davis, Dillon Brooks, Wade Baldwin, Andrew Harrison, Jarell Martin, Ivan Rabb, Wayne Selden
It doesn’t appear as if the Grizzlies have a future superstar — let alone solid starter — within its stable of young players. Harrison started a handful of games last season, though he only shot 36.3-percent from the field. Baldwin has also been somewhat of a disappointment thus far.
Barring an unforeseen jump with the aforementioned duo — or a breakout from the remainder of the talent — the Grizzlies will likely be left with a plethora of role players/fringe NBA players.
