Ranking The 30 Best NBA Players Of The ’80s

27. Artis Gilmore

The second half of Gilmore’s career was played during the 1980s. The 7’2″ center wasn’t the most nimble during this stage of his playing days. With that said, he was still highly effective. During the decade, Gilmore posted six-straight seasons shooting at least 62.3-percent from the field. Along with that, Gilmore was still good for least a block-and-a-half per contest. Lastly, all but one of Gilmore’s four All-Star years within the ’80s involved double-digit totals in both points and rebounds. It’s highly remarkable for a center of Gilmore’s stature to play 17 years in the league. It’s even more impressive when one looks at Gilmore’s constant production over such a long period of time.
