Kelly Olynyk is a player with a ton of value in today’s league. That’s why it was a bit surprising to see a team like the Raptors acquire him at the deadline. It would have been interesting to see Olynyk provide his skill set to a contender this year. He’s a stat-sheet stuffer when given ample playing time. Olynyk is an active defender, a good shooter, and a savvy passer. He was averaging over 4 APG for the Jazz before the trade. Reportedly, the Celtics were interested in trading for him earlier in the year. Olynyk would provide great depth to Boston’s frontcourt and would be returning to the team that drafted him out of Gonzaga back in 2013.
