The heavily publicized showdown between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder somehow managed to exceed the hype. In what quickly became an instant classic and the best game of the NBA season thus far, the Golden State Warriors escaped with a 121-118 overtime victory.
As has become rather typical of the 53-5 Warriors, reigning MVP Stephen Curry carried his team to victory. The Baby-Faced Assassin poured in 46 points while tying an NBA record with 12 three-pointers.
Tied at 118, the Warriors rebounded a Russell Westbrook miss with six seconds left and dished the ball to Curry. The Thunder got a bit discombobulated setting up their defense, giving Curry the necessary inch of space to pull up for this 32-foot game-winner:
Curry’s dominance can’t be considered surprising by any means, but even his NBA counterparts are in awe of the sharpshooter’s talents. Plenty of NBA superstars weighed in on Twitter to discuss this year’s MVP frontrunner:
When LeBron James is asking for mercy, you know there’s no debate about who the best player in the NBA is right now.
