NBA Power Rankings: Title Favorites in Desperation Mode

28. Detroit Pistons (17-47), 14th in East

First overall pick Cade Cunningham has come on strong after a miserable start to the year. After missing five games in February, Cunningham returned and has upped his level of play. Over the last month, the Detroit guard is averaging 18.4 PPG, 7.0 RPG and 4.6 RPG. He’s shooting just 40-percent from the field (and 32-percent from three), but there has been a clear uptick in Cunningham’s play as he’s grown more accustomed to the NBA.

Detroit will be adding another high lottery pick to this group next season to go along with Cunningham, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, Killian Hayes and Marvin Bagley. Getting back as much as possible in a potential Jerami Grant deal could really get the ball moving. The Pistons will need to maximize the return on Grant given how valuable he could be to a potential contender.
