1. Minnesota Timberwolves — Anthony Edwards, G, Georgia
NBA Comparison: Victor Oladipo
Edwards opted to pass up playing for all the major college basketball programs in favor of his hometown Georgia Bulldogs. We think this was a positive move, as Edwards wasn’t overshadowed by other teammates looking to ‘get theirs’ and thus potentially increase their own draft stocks. Edwards is a big, powerful combo guard. He does have point guard skills — though has the physicality and size to play the shooting guard position. Edwards profiles as a slightly bigger version of players like Oladipo, Dwyane Wade and Donovan Mitchell. In other words, the explosive athlete can get into the lane any time he wants.
While he isn’t the ideal fit next to D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, Edwards seems to be the consensus top player available and has enough of a well-rounded game to complement Minnesota’s offensive stars.
