For the past three months, Draymond Green and male anatomy have not gone well together. Between the repeated shots to Steven Adams’ groin and single shot to LeBron James’ private parts, the offseason was supposed to serve as a non-controversial time in Green’s career.
Instead, the brash power forward is under even heavier scrutiny since the Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
In early July, Green was involved in an altercation with a Michigan State football player, and reached a plea agreement to avoid serving jail time. It was already bad PR for a guy getting ready to represent Team USA in Rio, but Green took his antics to a whole new level Saturday night.
Using the social media app Snapchat, Green took a picture of his penis and accidentally made it public to his thousands of followers.
To make matters worse, Green originally deflected blame, tweeting that his Snapchat account was hacked:
However, once skeptics pointed out Green had been using the app all night, the Team USA member came clean:
“It was a situation where it was meant to be a private message. I kinda hit the wrong button and it sucks. It was meant to be private. We’re all one click away from placing something in the wrong place, and I suffered from that this morning.”
Then, in a bizarre turn of events, Green added, “I’m at the stage right now where all this stuff will help propel me to the next level as a basketball player, but more importantly as a man. I don’t live my life with regrets.”
It’ll be interesting to see how this mistake can help “propel [Green] to the next level as a basketball player,” but if there’s one thing the second-round pick has proven throughout his career, it’s that he is a master of overcoming adversity.
