Counting Down The 10 Greatest Players In NBA History

9. Bill Russell

Much like Chamberlain, Russell played in an era that makes it difficult to assess where he ranks on the all-time list. However, 11 NBA titles is a pretty strong indication that Russell was a transcendent talent.

Known as one of the greatest defenders in NBA history, unfortunately, blocks weren’t tracked during this time period. Otherwise, Russell would likely rival Hakeem Olajuwon for the all-time record.

Russell was never a go-to scorer, but his ability to clean the glass, protect the rim and lead his Celtics squads to championships makes him a worthy member on this list.
