Celtics and Nuggets to Play in Abu Dhabi

Announced on Wednesday, the NBA revealed that the Denver Nuggets will meet with the Boston Celtics in a series of preseason matchups scheduled for October in Abu Dhabi.

The reigning champs and two-time MVP Nikola Jokic will battle a loaded Boston squad led by All-Star Jayson Tatum on October 4th and October 6th. These games mark the third installment of the NBA Abu Dhabi Games.

Last June, Denver won its first NBA title in the team’s 47-year history while Boston lost in the Eastern Conference Finals. As of March 6, Denver is third in the West at 42-20 and Boston sits atop the East with a 48-13 mark — the best record in the NBA.

“We’re excited to bring two of the best teams in the NBA to Abu Dhabi in the Celtics and the Nuggets,” Mark Tatum, the NBA’s deputy commissioner, said in a news release.

“There is incredible momentum around basketball in the UAE and across the Middle East, and we believe these games as well as our year-round grassroots development and fan engagement efforts will be a catalyst for the continued growth of the game in the region.”
