WINNER – Cleveland Indians
If not for Jonathan Lucroy vetoing a trade between the Indians and the Brewers earlier in the week, Cleveland would have been the deadline’s biggest winner. Even with Lucroy eventually joining a fellow contender in Texas, Cleveland was able to upgrade their already strong chances of representing the American League in the World Series. Featuring the best rotation in the American League and an improved bullpen, thanks to the addition of Andrew Miller, the Indians have only furthered their case as the premier team in the AL. The addition of Brandon Guyer also strengthens the Tribes’ outfield options by adding another bat for Terry Francona to choose from. The AL seems destined to end with the team Lucroy rejected facing off against the team he eventually landed with.
