The 21 Best MLB Hitters Entering 2020

21. Manny Machado — San Diego Padres

After inking one of the richest free agent contracts of all-time last offseason, big things were expected out of Manny Machado in his first season with the Padres. And while Machado didn’t disappoint in Year 1, it wasn’t exactly a typical performance out of the four-time All-Star. He still managed to hit 32 HR – which is good considering Petco Park is a pitcher-friendly stadium – but his batting average was 40 points lower than his .297 mark in ’18. If the Padres want to contend this upcoming season, they are going to need the Baltimore version of Machado to show up.
