Why they will win: The lineup is absolutely loaded. Arenado is one of the best players in all of baseball. The addition of Ian Desmond — plus returners Charlie Blackmon, Trevor Story, Carlos Gonzalez, and DJ LeMahieu — makes this team a nightmare for pitchers in any ballpark.
Why they won’t win: Pitching. Pitching. Pitching. While the rotation boasts much in the way of upside and potential, none of the starters are overly established up to this point. Growing pains will invariably rear its ugly head with this young group. As a result, the Rockies are a year away from serious contention in the N.L. West.
