From 2011-2021, Bob Melvin patrolled Oakland’s dugout and somewhat flew under the national radar. Melvin led the A’s to back-to-back 97-win seasons in 2018-19, and a third-straight trip to the postseason in ’20. Despite dealing with financial limitations, Melvin has consistently proven he can manage with the best of them. After two years in charge of the San Diego Padres — the team reached the NLCS in 2022 — Melvin parted ways with the club for an opportunity to coach the San Francisco Giants.
