The Marlins have updated their uniforms in recent years. Whether that’s a good thing is up for debate. The marlin within the “M” logo is rather classy, but the script nickname on Midnight black alternate tops is rather boring. Not to mention, the Miami red alternate top is too bright. And, mixed with the white pants looks like something out of your local league.
29. Arizona Diamondbacks

Sure, it’s not the case, but it just seems like the Diamondbacks mess with their color scheme every so often – probably too often. While the black and Sedona red alternate jersey tops aren’t too bad, the Sonoran sand road unis don’t necessarily work — especially when the throwback teal is incorporated on the away uniform. The snake-themed logo is still cool, but the whole look is busy and somewhat of a distraction.
28. Philadelphia Phillies

First off, love the old-school 1970s-80s powder blue throwbacks. That said, the red pinstripe with white home jersey is only average. The cream home uniforms with “Phillies” across chest, again, nothing special. I don’t know if the club is considering any other updates to the look, but I’m not sure if that would make a difference.
27. San Diego Padres

It’s good to see the Padres are committed to the brown, gold and white color scheme. It’s what the Padres should be known for in teams of look. However, adding pinstripes to overall home and alternate road uniforms seem a bit too much. It doesn’t seem to go with the color scheme. Actually, there is reason to like the camouflage alternate jersey top that the team sports on special occasions. Especially with the basic white pants.
26. Cleveland Guardians

As most baseball fans are aware, 2021 was the final season Cleveland played under the Indians moniker. The club was known by that name since 1915, but thankfully it adopted a new name after many years of conversation. Unfortunately, the Guardians didn’t debut drastically different uniforms. In fact, all three looks — the red, navy, and white — are nearly identical to the former set. I hope some changes are made soon.
25. Detroit Tigers

The Tigers have been consistent, if anything, with their uniform look over the decades. Old-school fans probably like it. The famous, old-school “D” will never go out of style. But, those road uniforms with the cursive “Detroit” across the front of the gray tops is simply…meh. But, there’s obviously something to be said for being simple and not drawing too much attention to a team’s look over its collective play on the field.
24. Chicago White Sox

There might be some Sox fans who still long for the days of those collared tops and shorts. The majority of White Sox fans, however, probably like what they see on the South Siders. The black, silver and white works well enough, but don’t necessarily stand out. I will show the club some love for sporting the 1980s, blue, red and white uniforms with “SOX” across the front.
23. Boston Red Sox

There are things in baseball we can count on: hot dogs, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and the Red Sox traditional uniforms. And, why mess with tradition? That’s basically what it comes down to for the franchise. The famed “B” hat, the home whites with “RED SOX” across the front and gray road digs spelling “BOSTON.” Though not flashy and perhaps a little boring, it’s comforting to know some things in baseball never really need to change much.
22. Tampa Bay Rays

Through the years, the Rays have played around with both the team logo and style of their uniforms. Dropping the ‘Devil Rays’ was always an interesting move. At the moment, their uniforms offer a clean look. Nothing special, with the block “RAYS” featuring a sunray. The “TB” does the job, as well. I do like both the navy blue and light blue tops that the team dons on an alternate basis.
21. Texas Rangers

We’re at the point of the list where we see some similar, ‘safe’ styles in uniforms. Nothing that makes us cringe, but also not much that truly stands out. The Rangers take a common approach to both their home and away unis. Nickname across the home whites and city name over the road grays. The Rangers have an all-powder blue alternate jersey and a cream City Connect look that are about as wild as their on-field look gets.
20. Los Angeles Angels

At a time when teams offer a bevy of uniform looks and styles, the Angels have four looks of their own. Of course, the classic “A” with the halo still highlights the team’s red cap. Block “ANGELS,” with the halo, runs across the chest of the home whites, road grays and the alternate red jersey top. That’s pretty much it, and fans seems to be OK with it. Why play around with something familiar and expected?
19. Washington Nationals

One thing I can say about the Nationals, they give their players – and fan base – plenty of options when it comes to uniforms and caps. The Nationals revamped their look ahead of the 2024 season and the team now has five different looks. The best way to describe the Nationals’ overall look is something like: traditionally tasteful, with a nice balance between old school and modern day.
18. Seattle Mariners

The Mariners’ everyday home and away uniforms don’t really stand out. Just your basic white and navy. However, the alternate options are pretty spiffy. Starting with the Northwest green tops that have been around a while, but never go out of style. Depending on your age, the dark blues may remind you more of Ken Griffey Jr. or Ichiro. Then there’s the throwback, all white with royal blue and yellow — that is a nice tip of the cap to the past.
17. Minnesota Twins

I’m so glad the Twins continue to embrace the beloved ‘TC’ cap logo. While the club’s home and away uniforms offer a relatively standard look, it’s the alternate jerseys that stand out. The Twins apparently have four options when it comes to alternate uniforms. The full powder blue look, with the red cap, is a nice homage to their 1970s road uniforms — which is popular again with other teams throughout the majors. The cream top with ‘Twin Cities’ across the chest is a great new addition.
16. Houston Astros
Say what one will, but those 1970s-80s, classic orange-red-yellow-striped uniforms were something special. The club has donned them in recent years on special occasions, but the current Astros’ unis are much safer. Though the dark blue alternate top does offer that striped pattern under the arms of the jersey. The ‘H’ in the star logo is still there. The orange alternate tops also get the job done.

15. Colorado Rockies

The purple, black and silver of the Rockies has always looked good on the ball diamond. Even those home pinstripes seem to make sense with the overall color scheme. What still stands up, as well, is the black, sleeveless alternate jersey that not many teams can pull off. The Rockies continue to do it, and do so quite well. The all-purple jersey top is not a bad look, either.
14. Cincinnati Reds

One of baseball’s classic uniforms, the Reds have tried – with good or bad results – to update their look over the last 20 or so years. However, it’s back to what worked for the likes of the “Big Red Machine” in the 1970s. The stretched out, famous ‘C’ with ‘REDS’ in the middle logo highlights the home whites, while the block ‘CINCINNATI’ runs across the road gray uniform. The Reds’ alternate jersey is solidly tasteful, as well.
13. New York Mets

The Mets have high hopes as a franchise. Whether they reach the pinnacle of the sport again remains to be seen — but at least they’ll look relatively good attempting to do so. The pinstripe home uniform is still as solid and traditional as it gets in the Majors. The alternate options are also above average. The blue tops with pinstripe pants for home games actually go quite well together. Additionally, the return of the black alternate uniform has been a big boost to their wardrobe.
12. Kansas City Royals

After years of not doing much to change the overall look of their uniforms, the Royals introduced a new set in 2021. And, Royals’ fans should appreciate that. The ‘KC’ hats, cursive ‘Royals’ on the home whites remained, and the franchise made it a point to re-emphasize the powder blue. The all-powder option is a thing of beauty.
11. Oakland Athletics

The green and gold of the A’s exudes classic baseball. Reggie Jackson, Mark McGwire, Rickey Henderson. These legends of the game wore the yellow socks with green stirrups. Whether home or road, the A’s always look snazzy. Their alternate digs also have style. Whether we’re talking the green, yellow or sweet dark green with yellow piping tops. And of course, the famous ball cap is still truly special.
10. San Francisco Giants

Whether home, away or alternate, San Francisco’s uniforms do not disappoint. We start with the classic ‘SF’ logo on the hats and two of the three alternate jersey tops. The black and orange color concept has always worked for the Giants. Meanwhile, the orange alternate top with the 1970s-ish cursive ‘Giants’ across the front offers a solid throwback look. Another club that makes simple look classy. San Francisco’s City Connect option leaves a bit to be desired, but the franchise looks good for the most part.
9. Baltimore Orioles

Another team that sports the black and orange quite well. One can’t go wrong with the smiling oriole bird logo. After all, baseball is fun. And, even though the Orioles haven’t had a ton of success in recent years, they still boast one of the best overall uniforms in the game. The O’s succeed with multiple looks, especially when it comes to their two alternate jersey tops – one orange and the other black.
8. Toronto Blue Jays

While the Jays have tweaked their uniform look over the years, it’s good to see they have chosen to stick with the traditional block lettering and familiar blue jay logo again. The late 1990s, when more red was incorporated, and the mid-to-late 2000s with that swirly, futuristic looking jay logo didn’t seem to cut it. I’ve always liked the line inside the numbers, too. It harkens back to the days of Willie Upshaw and Alfredo Griffin.
7. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have never been shy about updating their uniforms. It seems something is tweaked on a seasonal basis. One part of the unis I’m glad returned is the famed ball within the ‘m’ and ‘b’ logo that looks like a baseball glove. That alone is worthy of the top-10. Blue and gold is always a great look, and the blue, button-down alternate top sporting the cursive ‘Milwaukee’ might be the best in baseball. Oh yeah, there’s also those throwback home Fridays when the club honors its uniforms of the past.
6. Chicago Cubs

As previously mentioned, pinstripes don’t always look good on a baseball uniform. That’s not the case with the Cubs. The home white, with blue pinstriped uniform and familiar circular Cubs logo remains one of the best looks in the game. The road gray with block ‘CHICAGO’ on the front is also solid. Finally, the Cubs’ blue alternate tops with the Cubbie bear logo is simple yet stylish enough.
5. Pittsburgh Pirates

Kudos to the Pirates for successfully balancing tradition with fashion. Pittsburgh’s uniforms have been among the best in baseball throughout the franchise’s existence. Even the “We Are Family” years of the late 1970s with the pinstripe hats. The ‘P’ still sits proudly on front of the club’s ball caps while the black, gold and white color scheme will never go out of style. Even their alternate tops, black with the famed ‘P’ or cursive ‘Pittsburgh’ are among the best in the Majors.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers

The basic gist of the Dodgers uniform hasn’t changed whether in Brooklyn or Los Angeles. The famed cursive ‘Dodgers’ across the home whites and road grays still stands strong after all these years. The ‘LA’ on the hat is iconic, as well. It’s baseball at its finest. And, another case where something doesn’t need to be messed with, or changed, just for the sake of doing something different.
3. St. Louis Cardinals

The word classic gets thrown around often when talking about baseball uniforms. That rightfully fits here with those two cardinals sitting on a bat. The club has not veered from its traditional uniform top and famous ‘STL’ logo on the cap. For baseball purists, this is what it’s all about. When you have something good, why mess with it. And, the Cardinals have lived by that philosophy for the most part.
2. Atlanta Braves

There are obviously those who are not big fans of the Braves’ classic tomahawk logo. That said, it’s been part of the franchise throughout its history, and is one of the most iconic in all of baseball. The overall uniform, whether the home whites or road grays, is truly crisp. Also, the script ‘A’ cap still looks as good as ever.

When it comes to classic uniforms and logo, it doesn’t get much simpler or more perfect than the Yankees. The famous pinstripes alone are a cause for intimidation. While the ‘NY’ is perhaps the most iconic logo in all of sports. There’s also something to be said for not putting names on the back of the jerseys. That’s still something that sets the Yankees apart from the rest of the MLB clubs. Love them or hate them, the Yankees are the kings when it comes to looking good on the field.
