MLB Power Rankings: San Dieg…oh no

30. Washington Nationals (38-78)

This Week: vs. Chicago Cubs (3), @ San Diego (4)

One good thing that happened in Washington last week — the Nationals ended their six-game losing streak. However, the worst team in baseball still finished with a losing record overall. The Nats started the week at Wrigley Field where they dropped two-of-three to the Cubbies. Back in the nation’s capital, Washington played host to the San Diego Padres and their new superstar, Juan Soto. The Nats were blown out in two games — 10-5 and 6-0, respectively — but toppled Yu Darvish in a 4-3 win.

29. Oakland Athletics (41-74)

This Week: @ Texas (4), vs. Seattle (3)

The Athletics were playing some good baseball coming out of the All-Star break. Over their first nine games, the A’s went 7-2 including a three-game sweep of the stacked Houston Astros. Over the past two weeks, however, the wheels have fallen off. Oakland has lost eight in a row and 11-of-13 overall. Last week, Oakland was swept by both the Angels and Astros.
