The Nationals continue to defy expectations following another solid week. Washington went 3-3 in matchups against the Padres and Royals. Friday’s win in Kansas City saw the Nats post their single-game scoring high of the year — 12 — thanks to an eight-run inning. The Nationals are unlikely to challenge for a playoff spot, but they’re a young and scrappy bunch that can make it difficult for other teams.
