2021 MLB Power Rankings: Race to the Postseason

30. Arizona Diamondbacks (31-70)

This Week: @ Texas (2), vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (3)

There will be trades in Arizona — that much we know. It remains to be seen which names get dealt, and what kind of haul the Diamondbacks will be seeking in return. It seems like Ketel Marte might be unavailable due to Arizona placing an enormous price tag on its center fielder, but the rest of the lineup remains very available. Eduardo Escobar is the biggest name of the bunch, and will garner massive interest due to his switch-hitting ability and versatility in the infield. The Chicago White Sox have remained in talks to acquire Escobar, but don’t be surprised if a team like the Brewers, Giants or Mets take a swing as well.

29. Texas Rangers (35-65)

This Week: vs. Arizona (2), vs. Seattle (3)

Whenever Joey Gallo finally gets dealt, it’s going to create waves across the league. Gallo’s power has the chance to completely shake up the remainder of season. He’s reached a bit of a rough patch — 1-for-24 in his last eight games — but the juggernaut outfielder is always one swing away from a hot streak. Just about every team in the league would love to acquire Gallo’s services. Among the top contenders, the Brewers, Giants, A’s, Dodgers, and Yankees would all be involved. Even the Padres — who just acquired Adam Frazier and have nowhere to play him — could make an unexpected splash for the lefty slugger.
