Things You Didn’t Know About the Original Space Jam

Shawn Bradley Wasn’t The First Choice ‘Big Man’ For The Group of NBA Players

Shawn Bradley — at 7-feet-6 — was the tallest NBA player taking part in Space Jam. While a solid athlete, Bradley was more known for his immense size rather than his prowess on the court. Interestingly enough, there was another former NBA player who the film had its eyes on.

Like Bradley, 7-foot-7 center Gheorghe Muresan played in the NBA during the ’90’s. He was reportedly asked to be in Space Jam — though declined the offer. Interestingly enough, Muresan starred as the lead in My Giant (alongside Billy Crystal) only two years later. Maybe it was a case of Muresan realizing he missed out on an opportunity to be in one of the most iconic basketball films ever made.
