The Best Actors & Actresses in the World

Gary Oldman

A three-time Best Actor nominee, Gary Oldman is only getting better with age. The London native is widely-regarded as one of the best actors of his generation — thanks in part to his ability to play all types of roles. A former stage actor, Oldman has excelled as a villain — True Romance, Leon: The Professional — and as a good guy (The Dark Knight). Oldman’s first Best Actor nomination came in 2012 for his performance in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Six years later, Oldman took home the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. The man who played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter series didn’t have to wait long for his third Best Actor nomination, as Oldman was acknowledged for his incredible performance in 2020’s Mank.
