Ranking The Top Rock Bands of the 1980s

24. KISS

The genius of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons cultivated a four-man group which sits gently nestled within the genre of rock. The height of the band’s popularity was arguably in the ’70s — which accounts for its placement at No. 24. Still, we can’t deny the energy, effervescence, and transcendence of this group.

These are more than just musicians and singers. Ultimately, Kiss was/is a collection of performers and entertainers. The theatrics on stage, the facial expressions, the face paint…all of it was aimed at putting on the best possible show. Heck, even Simmons’ tongue has its own persona!
