Ranking The Best Television Shows from the 1980’s

24. Diff’rent Strokes (1978-86)

Diff’rent Strokes piggybacked upon a number of comedies which preceded it. However, much of the quick jabs/clever humor came not from an adult — but rather from the pre-teen Arnold Jackson (played by Gary Coleman). The show was a comedy at its core — though it didn’t shy way from grappling with some rather serious issues (such as racism). Coleman himself became one of the most iconic child actors of all-time. Sadly, all three of the child actors from Diff’rent Strokes (Coleman, Dana Plato, Todd Bridges) suffered from some serious issues off-camera.
