19. Missy Elliott
She may have not released a full length album since 2005, but Missy Elliott’s name has carried much weight for the last twenty years. Paving the road for women in hip-hop, Elliott created massive hits over the span of her career. It’s hard to not recognize one of her songs the moment you hear it on a speaker, especially when it comes to tracks like “Pass the Dutch” and “Work It.” We’ve seen over the last couple of years the resurgence of Elliott, collaborating with artists such as Lizzo and Pharrell — and even with the release of some singles and her new EP in 2019.
