Sofia Coppola
The only daughter of directors Eleanor and Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia began her career in Hollywood appearing in her father’s films. She was quite famously raked over the coals for her performance in The Godfather Part III, though in retrospect she wasn’t nearly as bad as critics made her out to be. Later she would transition to writing and directing, with The Virgin Suicides and Lost In Translation standing out as her films best to date.
Like many in the Coppola clan, Sofia is also involved in a number of other ventures including running a fashion brand and sitting on the board of a prestigious New York art gallery. Not unlike her brother Roman or cousin Gia, it’s easier to explore new ventures when you know you always have your fallback job of directing feature films
