Morgan Freeman
Some performers find immediate critical and commercial success when they make the leap into the world of acting. Yet for many others, that path is much more circuitous.
Morgan Freeman falls into the latter camp. Though he started acting in the mid sixties and worked steadily on stage and screen, it wasn’t until the late ’80’s that Freeman finally landed his mainstream breakout roles. It was 1987’s Street Smart that really wowed film critics and brought him his first Oscar nomination. Two years later, in 1989, the one-two punch of Glory and Driving Miss Daisy made him a household name. Today, Freeman is one of the elder statesmen of Hollywood with arguably the most identifiable voice in the world.
