The Only 24 Teams That Can Win The 2018 NCAAM Basketball Tournament

16. Auburn

The Tigers have shook the college basketball landscape with their scorching hot start to the regular season. Although not primarily known for their hoops program, Auburn is proving they belong among the nation’s elite class of schools.

Depth has been Auburn’s calling card thus far. The tandem of Bryce Brown and Mustapha Heron do the heavy lifting on the offensive end, but this team gets contributions from everybody that hits the floor. Bruce Pearl’s 9-man rotation has been a revelation in a resurgent SEC.

There’s going to be doubters anytime a program comes out of nowhere like this. They’ll have to beat the big dogs in the conference before the nation begins to give them their due. With a strong showing in the conference tournament, the Tigers could be ready for a monumental month of March.

15. West Virginia

Bob Huggins and “Press” Virginia return to annoy opposing players and fans all across the country. The feisty Mountaineers are an absolute nightmare to play against. Huggins is an expert at getting his players to buy into his system. WVU completely wears opponents down with their constant trapping and active hands. Offensively, they have their limitations — though they create turnovers at a rapid pace. This then allows them to earn extra possessions. When Jevon Carter is connecting from the field, they’re a serious threat.
