Winning the 2020 Maui Invitational might take some of the heat off Smart’s job security. In his sixth season, Smart’s Longhorns have not finished better than third in the Big 12 and have won 20 or more games only twice. However, this could be a potential breakout season for Texas, even amid the cloud of COVID-19. Seems like the leash is still pretty long for a coach who remains popular on the national scene.
