RANKED: The 16 Teams Left in The NCAA Tournament from Worst to Best

12. Butler Bulldogs

Record: 25-8
Round of 64: 76-64 over Winthrop
Round of 32: 74-65 over Middle Tennessee

Butler had an unlucky draw last season. They seemingly outplayed their 9th seeded ranking in the tournament, and eventually went on to lose a hard fought game against top-seeded Virginia in the round of 32. Coming into the 2017 season, the Bulldogs were overlooked by the media, having been unranked in the preseason polls. They’ve blistered through those expectations, and are sitting pretty as one of the most complete teams in the nation.

With relatively easy wins over Winthrop and Middle Tennessee, the Bulldogs will be put to the test as the clear underdog remaining in the South bracket. If they can get past the top-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels, either UCLA or Kentucky will be waiting in the Elite Eight. That’s a tough schedule to overcome, even for a highly-talented Butler team. If they can make it out of this murderer’s row, we shouldn’t be allowed to question Butler basketball ever again.
