RANKED: 25 Best Men’s College Basketball Teams Of All-Time

25. Loyola-Chicago (29-2), 1962-63

Back before the country fell in love with Sister Jean and the 2017-18 Cinderella Ramblers, there was George Ireland’s team of trailblazers. Led by All-American Jerry Harkness, Loyola won its first 21 games and defeated two-time defending champion Cincinnati to win the National Championship. These Ramblers were also known for playing more than two black players at the same time, something far from common back in the day.

24. UNLV (34-1), 1990-91

The only team on this list not to win the National Championship. With a stacked roster that included Larry Johnson, Anderson Hunt, Stacey Augmon and Greg Anthony, the Rebels were the defending national champs and undefeated heading into the NCAA Tournament. UNLV pretty much rolled into the semifinals, where it faced Duke, which lost to the Rebels by 30 in the ’90 title game. This time, the Blue Devils were much tougher, winning 79-77 to end UNLV’s 45-game winning streak.
