The regional finals of the 2005 tournament featured some of the most entertaining basketball in recent history. The Spartans and Wildcats did their part. Michigan State trailed at halftime but climbed back for a chance to win in regulation. However, Kentucky’s Patrick Sparks hit a somewhat controversial three-pointer at the buzzer to send things to overtime. Behind 24 points from Shannon Brown, the fifth-seeded Spartans eventually prevailed.
