As the NFL consistently proves itself as America’s favorite sport, they continue to captivate audiences, controversies notwithstanding. Amidst their vast fan bases, numerous celebrities stand out for their unwavering support of their favorite teams, donning jerseys and flaunting logos beyond the spotlight. These high-profile fans add an extra layer of excitement and connection to the game, blending the worlds of entertainment and sports in a unique showcase of team spirit. In this article, we spotlight the most famous celebrity supporter for each NFL team, revealing the stars who cheer from the stands and bring their own fame to the fanfare.
Arizona Cardinals – Blake Shelton
Just how big a fan is Shelton of the Cardinals? So big that the country music star has his own Cardinals-related man cave. He’s apparently close with members of the team’s coaching staff and claims he even rooted for the club during some of the lean seasons several years ago. Shelton has often been seen sporting Cardinals gear, even on stage.
Atlanta Falcons – Samuel L. Jackson
According to USA Today, when the popular actor (Pulp Fiction, Marvel Cinematic Universe) was a student at Atlanta’s Morehouse College, he worked concessions at Falcons’ games. Apparently, he never gave up that loyalty to the Falcons. Jackson has never been shy about his love of the team over the years, attending many games and mentioning the “Dirty Birds” during interviews. So much so, he offered up a “Rise Up” commercial for the Falcons back in 2016.
Baltimore Ravens – Michael Phelps
Not a big surprise that the 23-time Olympic gold-medal swimmer is a big Ravens fan. After all, he hails from Baltimore. The team has honored him at games before. It also displayed a cardboard cut-out head of Phelps in the stands during the early portion of the COVD-19 plagued 2020 season. There’s probably a good chance Phelps would have been a pretty fair football player if he chose.
Buffalo Bills – Wolf Blitzer
Bills fans are a special group. And should be, considering all the misery their team has put its fanbase through. Blitzer has certainly been with the Bills through thick and thin. The longtime newsman and CNN anchor attended college in the Buffalo area and proudly roots for them.
Carolina Panthers – Steph Curry
When he’s not draining endless 3-pointers on the court, Stephen Curry can be seen rooting for the Carolina Panthers. Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Curry has long been a prominent supporter of his hometown’s NFL team. His dedication to the Panthers is so strong that he’s even expressed interest in owning the team someday. However, in 2018, the NBA restricted him from participating in a potential purchase due to conflict of interest concerns.
Chicago Bears – Bill Murray
The funny man star of such classics as Caddyshack and Stripes is also a big Chicago Cubs fan. However, back in the day when the Bears won the Super Bowl (1985 season), Murray was often on the Chicago sideline at Soldier Field. The Chicago-area native, whose family owns a restaurant/bar in the suburbs of the Windy City, apparently preferred Walter Payton and William “The Refrigerator” Perry. His loyalty to the Bears runs as deep to any other’s allegiance to a team on this list.
Cincinnati Bengals – George Clooney
Clooney is still one of the biggest stars on the planet. However, that apparently has not kept him from switching his NFL allegiance to a more prominent team. The Kentucky native and star of ER and The Descendants, supports the Bengals based on geography, it seems. Nothing wrong with that. And, it offers plenty of credibility to the fan base.
Cleveland Browns – Condoleezza Rice
It’s uncertain if Rice has spent time hanging with the “Dawg Pound.” By reports, the former United States National Security Advisor and Secretary of State has been a Browns fans since her younger days. She watched games with her father, immersing herself into the tradition and history of the team. Back in 2016, Rice wore a Josh Cribbs Cleveland jersey during a campaign for NFL women’s apparel. Now, the Browns just need to win a Super Bowl – or maybe just reach the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys – LeBron James
Something tells us that James would have been a great NFL player. After all, he was a star prep football player back in Ohio. It makes sense that one of the planet’s biggest names supports what’s still one of the most popular teams in the NFL. “King” James has been seen on the sidelines at Cowboys games and is often pictured wearing a hat with that famous Dallas star.
Denver Broncos – Amy Adams
Adams is a six-time Academy Award nominee, known for such films as Junebug and American Hustle. She also is a big fan of the Broncos. So much, that Adams was reportedly seen sporting her Broncos gear during Super Bowl 50 – when Denver beat the Carolina Panthers. During a spot for Vanity Fair, Adams also showed her graceful form when it comes to throwing a football in a fancy dress.
Detroit Lions – Eminem
Most celebrity Detroit Lions’ fans are Michigan natives or spent extended time in the state. Eminem is one of the greatest rappers of all time and is a huge supporter of Detroit’s sports teams. Eminem often attends Lions games and released the tune “In Detroit” which offers some football flavor. Today, Eminem can often be seen at Lions games, vocally cheering his team on.
Green Bay Packers – Justin Timberlake
JT claims that he became a Packers fan because of Brett Favre while growing up in Memphis. Back when Tennessee did not have a pro team of its own. It’s also been reported that Timberlake is personal friends with former Green Bay star Aaron Rodgers. The famed singer, actor, entertainer has made his way to Lambeau Field on occasion and been vocal of his support of the team. Not sure if we’ve even seen him wear a foam cheesehead.
Houston Texans – Dennis Quaid
Hailing from Houston, Dennis Quaid is a devoted fan of the Houston Texans, often seen cheering for the team at their games. Known for his roles in a diverse array of films such as “The Rookie,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” and “Frequency,” Quaid’s support for the Texans adds a touch of star power to the stands.
Indianapolis Colts – David Letterman
The former late-night great is a native of the Hoosier state. So, when the Colts relocated from Baltimore, Letterman was hooked. He’s also apparently a big fan of Colts legend Peyton Manning. Then again, who isn’t? It’s also been reported that Manning and Letterman have a decent friendship.
Jacksonville Jaguars – Lil Duval
Now, there is word that Bill Murray, who we mentioned earlier as a Chicago Bears fan, also has shown love for the Jags. However, we chose to highlight this hip hop artist and stand-up comedian. Duval, the county in which Jacksonville is located, is a native of the city and quite vocal of his support for the Jaguars. He’s often seen at Jags’ games and sporting the team’s jerseys and hats.
Kansas City Chiefs – Taylor Swift
It’s Taylor Swift. Need we say more?
Las Vegas Raiders – Ice Cube
Like the Dallas Cowboys, there are plenty of big-name Raiders fans. Cube, though, might still be among the biggest backers even though the team has moved to Vegas. Back in his N.W.A. days, Ice Cube often sported his Raiders hat – when they were based in Los Angeles at the time. However, it seems no matter where the team is located, Ice Cube will follow. Fan support usually knows no bounds.
Los Angeles Chargers – Phil Mickelson
Another athlete who is a prominent fan of an NFL squad. Mickelson, a six-time major champion, is a San Diego native and was all Chargers while they were in town for decades. Now that the franchise has moved to Los Angeles, Mickelson still appears to be backing the team. Even though longtime quarterback Philip Rivers is no longer with the team. Rivers and Mickelson have grown pretty tight over the years.
Los Angeles Rams – Bryan Cranston
Cranston has blossomed into one of the most popular actors (Breaking Bad) on television in recent years. He was a longtime Rams fan when they were originally based in Los Angeles, but was turned off when the franchise moved to St. Louis. They are back in L.A. now, and Cranston reportedly is back on board in support of the team. Call it fair-weathered, but at least it’s support.
Miami Dolphins – Johnny Depp
The famed actor of such films as Edward Scissorhands and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise moved around much during his younger days. His family eventually landed in Florida and Depp found his NFL team in the Dolphins. With the franchise’s history, not a bad team to follow. Depp likes to wear Dolphins gear and has been seen on the sidelines at Dolphins’ games. Not a bad celeb to have on your side.
Minnesota Vikings – Chris Jericho
Unabashed and proud. Just two words to describe Jericho’s love of the Vikings. The legendary pro wrestler, who’s also dabbled in music and acting, is a huge pro sports fan in general. However, it seems the Vikings are at the top his list. Jericho makes appearances at Vikings games, eager to take pictures with fans and has no problem offering his opinions on the team and its personnel.
New England Patriots – Elton John
We know about the Wahlbergs, and Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon – but, Elton John? Yes, the legendary musician is a massive Patriots fans. Sir Elton, who is a huge sports fan in general, frequently makes his love for New England football known. On one occasion, he served as the team’s honorary captain when it faced Tampa Bay in London several years back.
New Orleans Saints – Brad Pitt
Does it really get much bigger than Pitt (Moneyball, Fight Club)? While one of his better-known movies has Pitt playing a baseball executive, his love for football is apparently passionate – specifically the New Orleans Saints. He’s been seen at games, chatting up players and even wearing a Saints jersey on occasion.
New York Giants – Lady Gaga
A New Yorker through and through. Gaga has a true love for NYC and its surrounding boroughs. Especially its sports teams. She’s been seen at Yankees games, which is usually a haven for celebs. But, she’s often made her away across the Hudson River to take in a Giants game. Usually from the comfort of a luxury suite.
New York Jets – Ralph Macchio
Yes, the Karate Kid loves the J-E-T-S. Wonder if the team has ever considered employing him to kick field goals or extra points? A Long Island native, Macchio has often been on hand at Jets games. He’s even been used to get the crowd fired up before kickoff. Lately, it’s tough being a Jets fans, but Macchio doesn’t seem ready to hide his true green and white colors.
Philadelphia Eagles – Kevin Hart
Anybody who watched when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII knows how big of a fan Hart is. The Philly native might also be an obnoxious one. During the on-field celebration and hoisting of the Lombardi Trophy, an inebriated Hart worked his way into the fun and looked quite strange during it. He was turned away by some security guards and the internet had a bit of fun at Hart’s expense. Let’s call it a moment of misplaced euphoria for this Eagles super fan.
Pittsburgh Steelers – Michael Keaton
The man who played Batman is a Pennsylvania native. So, it’s no surprise he backs the Steelers. The veteran actor of other favorites such as Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice, has proudly spoke about his Steelers love over the years. He’s also somewhat of a regular at Steelers games. We’re sure he’s got a Terrible Towel or two hanging nicely in his residence.
San Francisco 49ers – Jeremy Renner
Jeremy Renner, of “Mission: Impossible” and Marvel series fame, is said to be passionate San Francisco 49ers fan. The actor, celebrated for his dynamic performances on the big screen, frequently showcases his support for the 49ers. Renner’s enthusiasm is so great, he claims he is “obsessed”. Although he perhaps wasn’t the biggest celebrity in attendance at Super Bowl LVIII, where the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the 49ers, he is undoubtedly one of the biggest to follow the team.
Seattle Seahawks – Will Ferrell
Fans of the massively popular actor (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Old School) might not be aware of his passion for Seahawks football. That’s the case, as Ferrell claims to be a big supporter of one of the NFL’s perennial powers. Reportedly, Ferrell is close with former Seattle coach Pete Carroll. Their friendship is said to date back to Carroll’s days coaching at USC.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Dick Vitale
A Florida resident, Dickie V loves his Tampa area sports. Now, he tends to talk a lot about Rays baseball and has season tickets. However, he’s apparently just as passionate for the Bucs. He attends games, wears the gear and is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to talking about football.
Tennessee Titans – Tim McGraw
The Titans are a popular fan choice for country music performers. Makes sense since the team is based in Nashville. They don’t get much bigger than McGraw, the multi-Grammy winning performer who will go down as one of the greats in country music – along with wife Faith Hill. McGraw is big sports fan, but football appears to be his preferred choice.
Washington Commanders – Matthew McConaughey
McConaughey is from Texas. So, how exactly did he become a fan of Washington’s pro football team? The star of such hits as Dallas Buyers Club and Dazed and Confused, McConaughey tells an interesting tale on how he became a fan of the team. He said to NBC Sports in 2019, that as a young boy his favorite food was a hamburger. While watching Washington play, he saw a player on the team named Chris Hanburger. That was the moment a young McConaughey was hooked on Washington football.
